Reggae- The story of Jamaica's Music
Reggae is the story of Jamaica's Music. Most people would say that Reggae is a genre of music that was developed in the backcountry of Jamaica in the late 1960's. Technically, it didn't really begin in the 1960's, it became popular then. In a sense, Reggae music has actually been around in Jamaica since slavery. When the British colonized Jamaica, the slaves would sing and tap out beats and rythyms any time they got a chance to. Little did they know that their "music" would one day make history as one of the most influential musice styles ever.
This painting shows Bob Marley in his famous pose and his son, Ky-Mani Marley. His other sons Ziggy, Damian, Robert, Rohan, Stephen, and Julian Marley aren't shown is this painting due to the *deceased artist's wishes.*
* The artist of this painting doesn't want the rest of Bob Marley's sons to be shown due to personal reasons including physical contact with them that resulted in serious injury.
